Quarterly Update on County Projects

(October 2010)

Lower Jackson Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant

English Construction Company of Lynchburg is beginning work on the Clifton Forge pump station/pipeline, and decommissioning the existing wastewater treatment plant.

Merger of Clifton Forge E-911 Center with the County E-911 Center

Within the next few weeks, the Clifton Forge E-911 Communications Center will be merging with the Alleghany County E-911 Communications Center in Covington. Communication Officers at the Sheriff’s Office will answer all Clifton Forge E-911 calls and will dispatch Clifton Forge Police, Fire, and EMS accordingly. The Clifton Forge Police Department will still handle all of their administrative calls and will have an employee to handle administrative duties during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. The merger of the two E-911 Centers is a positive step toward overall consolidation of E-911 services within our locality. It will ultimately provide cost savings and better coordination for emergency dispatch and response.
